Measuring our environmental impact

As part of our commitment as a certified B Corporation, a business that meets high standards of social and environmental responsibility, we’re focused on both maintaining our certification while making measurable improvements across our business.

To do that we took a critical look at the areas where we could see needed further development in our B Corp journey. We identified a key gap in assessing our environmental impact, but not for the reasons you might think.

Our challenge wasn’t lack of intent, but lack of data. Without accurate measurement, it’s difficult to understand our footprint or set meaningful goals for change. That’s why we engaged Bluemoth to help us begin annually monitoring our greenhouse gas emissions. This work allows us to collect the data we need to understand our emissions profile, track our progress, and set reduction targets over time.

We began our first reporting period in 2024 aligning with the full calendar year. Our gross emissions were 14.66 tonnes of CO₂e (carbon dioxide equivalent) based on calculations from several sources including fuel, flights, electricity usage waste to landfill, water usage, and staff commuting.

Our largest source of emissions?

Flights and taxis (71%) were our biggest contributors underscoring how air travel can outweigh the emissions from many everyday actions combined. As a small team that doesn’t travel often, we were surprised by this result. It’s encouraged us to think differently about how we plan travel going forward.

This first assessment provides us with a valuable baseline. We’ll use these insights to identify opportunities for reduction and guide future initiatives aimed at lowering our carbon footprint.

We look forward to conducting our next annual assessment in early 2026, capturing data for the 2025 calendar year, and continuing to share with you our progress toward carbon reduction.
